CALLING ALL ARTISTS
in the Lower Quarter*, Treme, Marigny and Bywater to participate in our next Open Studio event, which will be held in the fall/winter of 2008**. Interested artists will open their home studios and/or creative spaces from noon to 5pm to the general public and arts enthusiasts. You will be given a stack of map/invitations to pass out to your friends or leave in your favorite watering holes. We will get the event in local press and on local radio stations. In return, we ask for a $20 contribution to cover the cost of printing invitations and maintaining and updating the website.
We continue to have good public participation in this event. You can expect visitors from all parts of New Orleans and beyond - even your neighbors may come! Of course you can help by distributing your flyers and spreading the word to your personal contact list.
THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER will be posted on the website in September. For more information please send an email to info @ openstudioartists dot org.
HOW TO CONFIRM & REGISTER YOUR STUDIO
You can confirm participation on the website and make your contribution through PAYPAL as instructed on this page: http://www.openstudioartists.org/register.html. Note: there is a two-part registration - one form goes to us with your name, studio info, etc., and the other button will take you to PayPal to pay the $20.
OPEN STUDIOS is organized by a collaboration of artists in the greater downtown New Orleans neighborhoods. If you would like to help us organize the event or for more info please call Christine at 943-0631 or email: chwemmerarts @ earthlink dot net.
*Lower Quarter is from St. Ann sweeping towards Esplanade Avenue and the Marigny.
**Yes you can participate for only one day - please specify which date when you register.

Our mission is to add to the revitalization of the Marigny/Bywater area while ensuring that the neighborhood retains its cultural diversity and working class character. As both artists and residents, we are concerned with rising rents, gentrification, and commercial development that threatens the creative and working class communities.
We are forming a collective voice to align ourselves with other Marigny/Bywater residents to prevent displacement by outside developers who seek to dramatically alter our historic neighborhoods in the name of progress. Communication, outreach and interaction with the public by resident studio artists will substantially aid in the cultural enhancement of the Marigny and Bywater and the entire New Orleans community.
